Glass Nutsche Filter (Agitated Nutsche filter)
Glass Nutsche filters manufactured from borosilicate glass offer a contained and high-purity solution for solid–liquid separation processes. The corrosion-resistant borosilicate glass ensures long-lasting durability even when handling aggressive chemicals.
These filters provide full visual control over every stage of the process, allowing operators to monitor filtration, cake washing, and discharge in real time. - During operation, slurry is charged to the glass vessel and filtered by vacuum or pressure through the filter medium, forming a uniform cake on the plate. The agitator is then used to level the cake, perform displacement or reslurry washing, and finally to break up and direct the dried solids toward the discharge valve for clean, contained product recovery with minimal operator exposure.
- The core of a glass Nutsche filter is a cylindrical borosilicate glass vessel equipped with a removable filter plate or mesh support (often PTFE lined) at the bottom, designed to operate under vacuum or slight pressure for efficient filtration. An overhead agitator with variable speed, mechanical seal, and vertical lift or swivel capability allows gentle stirring during filtration, reslurrying and cake smoothing, as well as automatic cake discharge, while multiple glass nozzles support feed addition, inert gas blanketing, sampling, CIP, and venting.
- Borosilicate glass agitated Nutsche filters are widely used in pharmaceutical, fine chemical, agrochemical, and specialty chemical plants for crystallized product isolation, catalyst recovery, purification of high value intermediates, and filtration of hazardous or highly corrosive slurries. Their transparency, excellent chemical resistance, and ability to integrate directly with glass reactors make them ideal for R&D, kilo labs, and pilot plants where robust containment, easy cleaning, and precise observation of the filtration and washing stages are critical.
