HCl Gas Generation Plant
Anhydrous HCl gas is now a days widely used in various Chemical Processes.
HCl gas is available in market in filled HCl gas cylinders. However, they are difficult to handle and are dependent on HCl gas cylinder suppliers.
Instead of it, you can install anhydrous HCl gas generation unit which will give continuous supply of HCl gas.
Anhydrous HCl gas can be produced by various routes which are as below:
1. H2So4 Route:
Commercial aq. HCl of 30% solution is mixed with 98% H2So4 solution in co-current manner.
98% H2So4 solution absorb the moisture present in HCl solution and due to exothermicity of reaction, HCl gets evaporated and this HCl is totally anhydrous as it is passing through 98% H2So4.
Cooling media is required to cool the effluent generated at the end of process.
2. Boiling Route:
Commercial Aq. HCl of 30% solution is boiled to 110 ⁰C with the help of Low pressure Steam and HCl Gas along with water vapor gets evaporated. Evaporated water vapor gets condensed and returned back to column, while HCl gas is passed to moisture absorber and purged to reactor at the user point.
3. CaCl2 Route:
Calcium chloride is highly hygroscopic in nature. When it reacts with boiling HCl, it absorbs all the moisture present in aq. HCl solution and leave the system in diluted form. The same needs to concentrate by evaporating water in evaporator & to make it reusable. The gas generated is passed through condenser & moisture absorber to condense & to absorb the moisture and leave the gas in an anhydrous form.
